Level Art
Check out the level art, Mona, created for Cambio!
Change Your Point of View
This is an early design of not just the level art but also the level design for the introductory level of the game. There are lanterns (in yellow) that the player has to light up in order to open up doors and progress through the game. Since the game is based around a gravity-shifting mechanic, the player takes an interesting path (the yellow lines) up the tower in order to get into the complex.
This is another art concept of what an interior room would look like, how the lanterns would look, where they would be placed. Notice the reference images of possible mosaic and tile patterns from real Moorish architecture.
Built Like Legos
As you can see above, the shape of the arches have been changed a bit. This is a detail shot with a more refined description of their design. Our architecture is designed to be modular and therefore snap together just like Legos. The grid shows that the plan is to make the pieces 4m x 6m x 1m in Maya & Unity dimensions.
One really fun hazard of our game are the windows. Strange right? Well if you can shift gravity sideways, then the walls become your floor and ceiling. So you could definitelly fall out of the level by slipping out a window! So Mona is using references of real Spanish archways and windows from the Moors in order to create something unique to our game. This is what our windows will look like.
Just because you can walk on walls and ceilings doesn't mean you don't need stairs now and then. In fact, the plan is to place the stairs, doors, and other objects in different orientations like an MC Escher painting. Check out one of his paintings below.
Looks like fun right?!
