Flamenco Influences in Character Design and Movement
Our theme for this game is heavily inspired by Spanish art and this goes all the way down to things like animation and character design. The main character of our game has movement and clothing influenced by Spanish Flamenco.
Take a look at our artist Jorge Ortiz's concept art for the main character, tentatively named "Viranica".
Gravity Device
As you can see, she is using a special gravity device that gives her the unique ability of shifting gravity around the cardinal directions. Althought the style of the game is based on the Spanish Moor style, it is also a near-future scifi, using technology of that time. This art combines the past with the future in a style that is completely unique.
What Her Name Really Means
This game is all about shifting and changing gravity. This is why the game is called "Cambio" which means change in Spanish. The name of the character is drawn from that same philosophy. Veronica is a common name but "virar" is another spanish word that means "change in direction". We saw this as a wonderful sign that we're on the same track. So we landed on merging that word with the popular name to make "Viranica." You can call her Vira, for short.
